HR MacMillan Space Centre - Just for Teachers

Resources to help you teach about astronomy, space science and sustainability

Lisa McIntosh

Resources from the February 8th Pro-D workshop

I've included my presentation in a couple of different formats - powerpoint (I apologize that some of the formatting has gone a little strange as I originally developed the presentation in Keynote), a pdf file, and a pdf file with my notes which includes the web links to the resources I used in each section (you should be able link directly from the pdf file to the web page listed). If you download the power point file you'll need to download the files in the folder as well - it contains all the videos.

The two main sources I used are:
Chandra X-ray Observatory
Spitzer Space Telescope
Both sites have lots of images, special features, educational materials and glossaries. The Spitzer site has some presentations as does the Chandra site.

Presentation:
Download Space science resources.pdf (2 MB)
Download Space science resources.ppt (5 MB - video files not attached - down load video files here)
Download space science resources notes.pdf (2 MB)

Other good sites for resources are
NASA - Office of Education
Canadian Space Agency
HR MacMIllan Space Centre

Thanks again for your input on the redevelopment of our planetarium show. If you have any other ideas or questions please let me know.

Cheers
Lisa McIntosh
